Job Description

We are actively looking for a Manager of Supply Chain Strategy and Design with experience mining and interpreting freight flow data to join one of our East coast offices. This position will work with our Economics group to analyze and interpret the flow of materials, products, services, and associated systems information from point of origin to point of delivery in support of clients needs. Conversant with trucking, rail, maritime data, and the economics of the same. Comfortable working with major datasets, willing to unravel geographically- and sectoral-defined markets and familiar with supply chain modeling and presentation tools. Must be well-grounded in market economics. All for the purpose of developing and designing optimal supply chain strategies for clients.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assesses and analyses traffic flow data, commodity flow data and import/export data for practical market-based applications.
  • Assists clients on freight pricing and all transportation costs for optimizing a logistics supply chain or designing one in dynamic markets.
  • Interprets complex datasets focused on multiple lanes of product movement.
  • Analyzes supply chain networks across all modes of freight flows, requiring knowledge to find, scrub, and analyze large transportation datasets.
  • Using software modelling tools to determine network optimization.
  • Design and develop optimal supply chain logistics to enhance economic development opportunities at either a clients existing facility, a future location, or a client's larger network.
  • Develops marketing strategies of clients using supply chain data and tools to determine target opportunities at a particular location or across a client's network.
  • Interprets data and information related to the planning and implementation of activities related to the timely, and cost-effective ways to move freight to and from a particular location or across a network of sites/locations/facilities.
  • Using freight flow datasets and supply chain modelling software, perform optimal site selection analysis.
  • Using data visualization software create and present supply chain design and strategies to clients.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management or comparable field; required
  • BS Industrial Engineering; preferred
  • Master's degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management or comparable field; preferred
  • 7+ years' experience working with global and domestic freight logistic solutions, in either an academic or forecasting function, or in an analytic staff function, required
  • Fluent in English in both written and oral; required
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Chinese Mandarin, and/or Portuguese; preferred
  • Must be geographically conversant
  • Must be mode savvy (able to interpret rail, truck, air, pipeline demand, costs and pricing in multivariate dynamic situations)
  • Must have abilities to quickly learn complex software programs
  • Must have experience in designing a supply chain network that includes highway, rail, and maritime.
  • Must have experience performing network optimization modelling
  • Must have experience using data visualization software.
  • Must have experience mining and scrubbing data.
  • Must be able to track continuous market changes on freight traffic flows
  • Ability to "talk the language" of truck and rail rates, O/D pairs, rate packages for multiple destinations, air freight and steamship line pricing, spot rates versus contract, and be able to track these elements pro-actively and dynamically
  • Must be able to clearly and precisely lead a client through a complex supply chain network design where they can understand issues, challenges, and pathway forward.
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Physical requirements:

Work is generally performed in an office or client office setting. Ability to use standard office equipment is required. Travel occasionally.
