Job Description

Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. Moffatt & Nichol's Charlotte, NC office is actively searching for a Landscape Architect with 2 to 5 years of experience to join our growing team. The successful new hire will support the development of both domestic and international waterfront master plans for properties such as waterfront parks and environmental areas, cruise industry and passenger ferry properties, waterfront resorts, tourism destinations, and sea level rise and resiliency. You will participate in feasibility and strategic planning, conceptual design, and construction documentation under the supervision of licensed professional landscape architects, planners, and engineers.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist the Design Team to develop and advance creative design concepts for clients / projects.
  • Lead and/or contribute to CAD documentation, project concept design packages, and construction / permit drawing sets.
  • Prepare digital and hand drawings as needed to communicate master plan, design elements, and features.
  • Assists in design analysis and compilation of specifications for basic to complex architectural assignments.
  • Take initiative to explore current graphic standards and building construction methods.
  • Support public outreach and collaboration efforts as required by project assignments.
  • Contribute to the long-term professional development within your specific area of expertise.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture or Urban Design/Planning.
  • 2 to 5 years of Landscape Architecture or Urban Design/Planning experience. Experience in waterfront design and/or planning is desirable.
  • Experience with hand drawn plans (i.e. - Plans, Sections, Elevations, etc.) is desirable.
  • Desire to achieve professional licensure in related field (i.e. - PLA, AICP, LEED, ENV SP, etc.).
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and AutoCAD.
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Physical requirements:

Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
