Valiant Integrated Services is seeking an experienced military capabilities subject matter expert to support planning and execution of experiments in theater-level exercises and demonstrations in the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command area of responsibility. Candidate will work with a team of military, government and academic/research lab personnel to develop, test, and demonstrate advanced concepts and technologies across a range of military disciplines. Experimentation fields include advanced combat aviation, long range fires, maritime surface and subsurface capabilities, electronic warfare, space-based and cyber capabilities, and joint all-domain command and control.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Integrate material and non-material experimentation proposals into test, demonstration, and exercise events using traditional experimentation or "free play" approach as appropriate.
  • Utilize a "design-of-experiments" approach to develop integration proposals and incorporate them into demonstration, simulation, test, and exercise events, establishing and assessing validity, reliability, precision, and credibility standards.
  • Plan and execute exercise/demonstration events that incorporate both readiness-based training tasks and cutting-edge experimentation.
  • Build and execute exhaustive data collection and analysis plans and draft Military Utilization Assessments for proposed capabilities.
  • Apply experimentation results to real-world critical military capability gaps to inform potential solutions in the form of acquisition strategies or revisions to concepts of operations and tactics, techniques, and procedures.
  • Work with senior personnel on the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command staff, other combatant commands, Joint Staff, and component
staffs to coordinate planning and integration of experiments into major theater exercises and demonstration events.
  • Work with technical experts in a range of disciplines to ensure planning contributes to successful execution of USINDOPACOM-sponsored experimentation objectives.
  • Draft and staff documents designed to implement novel concepts and mature existing ones, including concepts of operation, and tactics techniques and procedures.
  • Conduct preliminary planning, site surveys, and concept development through exercise/demonstration execution, including participation in planning conferences and technical working groups.
  • Develop and present professional briefings, trip reports, white papers, and other informational documents designed to inform senior decision-makers and, when appropriate, recommend courses of action.
  • Participate in or facilitate operational planning teams (OPTs), bureaus, boards, cells, conferences, and working group events, information paper development, operational and strategic assessments, and response to or creation of Requests for Information (RFIs), and after-action review (AAR).

  • Experience in modern warfare concepts with expertise in a key warfighting domain (Air, Space, Cyber, EW, Maritime Surface/Subsurface or Land Warfare).
  • Focus in advanced combat concepts against modern anti-access/area denial (A2/AD) threats from potential peer adversaries in the INDOPACOM area of responsibility.
  • Familiarity with the INDOPACOM area of responsibility to include operational plans and integration of allies & partners.
  • Familiarity with USINDOPACOM headquarters staff processes including boards, bureaus, centers, cells and working groups associated with exercise planning and integration.
  • Experience working with combatant commands, joint staff, or operational staff in a position that demands interaction with technical experts, government service, and military personnel.
  • Experience in planning and executing military exercise/demonstration events that incorporate cutting-edge experimentation, and familiarity with the Joint Exercise Life Cycle of major combatant command exercises.
  • Expertise in an emerging field of warfighting concepts desired (unmanned systems, hypersonics, AI/machine learning, etc).
  • Experience with conducting and authoring Military Utilization Assessments.
